brainspotting part two

April 20th, 2016

Two weeks ago I traveled to Columbus, Ohio for the second module of Brainspotting, a brain-body based approach to trauma resolution. Because addictions and trauma are intertwined, I’m feeling very enthusiastic to add this to my healing repertoire to complement the Somatic Experiencing certification already under my belt. Most of my clients describe relief and calmness after a session which can be described as a result of the activation of a stored memory diminishing. Because “talk therapy” only addresses the neo-cortex, I find Brainspotting to be a very respectful and impactful way to access the subcortex where traumatic, unpleasant and stressful memories get stored.
